strange noise at upper rpm range

I want to say the noise sounds like a bad exhaust leak because I hear it at heavy throttle or when at at the top of second gear at wot and real bad in third gear.I ordered new manifold gaskets and b pipe donut gaskets. The b pipe gaskets arrived first so I replaced them first and the sound is still there. It sounds like baaah from the drivers seat.I HOPE ITS NOT MY FLEXPLATE,ammco just installed a new tranny last month with a lifetime warranty.I should have the new gaskets by wednesday and if the sound is still there, any ideas on what could cause such a sound, also I have no loss of power at all.

My flexplate is supposedly toast and it does the same sort of thing, but its not gear specific at all. Sounds a little more rattley and metallic than an exhaust leak(I've got that too)..

Well at idle or if I rev the engine there is no baaah baah sound but at wot at the top of second and mainly in third gear thats when I GET THE SOUND an it sounds as if its right under my feet thats why I THINK its my manifold gaskets, what do the gaskets look look like when new,I removed the manifold and my gaskets were as flat and thin as paper.

Check your heat shield, if it's loose that would give you a metallic rattley sound.

I took a section on rubber hose and pinpointed my problem, its my flexplate.I will be at AAMCO transmissions first thing in the morning since my tranny was installed about 5 weeks ago and I have a lifetime warranty.

Resonator?
Mine made some weird sounds at repeatable engine RPMs.
$50 to have Midas take it out was a cheap fix.

If the aamco deal doesnt fix it, take a rubber mallet or a metal pipe with a towel wrapped around the end and tap your catalitic converter, if theres a rattle the ceramic disks in there have broken down, apart and will eventually end up clogging the exhaust causing the engine to not run. Mine was to the point where if i revved it to 5500 rpm or more then let off the gas it would kill the engine.

Thanks for such great ideas but my exhaust is catless,I do have a 40 series flowmaster in the rear but I'm pretty sure that it has something to do with my flexplate, there is a distinct tap even at idle, using my rubber hose to ear,but I can only hear the noise at wot in the car and it sounds bad.I have to get this fixed soon because its stopping progress right, more on that in the mod mania section after repairs are made. Thanks again for such good ideas which lead me to pinpoint my problem so fast.
