OBDII IM test.

Took my 96' LSI in for it's first ever OBDII IM test today in PA. Much to my surprise (with 52000 mile on it) it did not pass even with no Check Engine light on.

I was working with a good mechanic and he checked his service notes about known problems. Well 96' Subaru OBDII is on the list.

These OBDII test systems hook up to your cars computer and look for stored data to see if it's been operating in required parameters.

The 96' Subaru OBDII system can monitor everything the test needs but, doesn't store all of the data. Some is lost when you turn the ignition off.

Sooo, I was told to take the LSI for a ride (about two miles worth) and he would test it again but, LEAVE IT RUNNING WHEN YOU GET BACK.

I did that and it passed on second try. Thought this was informative, any comments would be appreciated.
