Talking On the Scrounge

Does anyone have a spare clip that holds the 'H-6' engine cover on? I lost one a few months ago and I've given up ever actually getting the right part from my Subaru dealer. They keep giving me one that's too small and the cover can be pinged off with the slightest leverage.

Ours are loose too. I was thinking of replacing them with roofing bolts.

I think it may be possible to epoxy the nut onto the underside of the metal bracket that the clips push in to.

Maybe worth a try?

Can't you just take a similar from an old subie interior?

As I remember there are several of those there.

Unhappy

Mine came back from the last tranny revamp with one of the two missing.

Thought it would be easy enough to get another. Must make a trip to my local scrapyards and bring one with me for comparison.

Guess I'll have to do the same. Why is nothing ever straightforward with Subarus?

Hi Mozta, BTW, how is your front lamp washer? Have you solved it?

The reason they wont stay in is because the rubber grommit in which they fit tends to wear and shrink over time. This causes it to lose its affectivness in holding in the clip. Replace the rubber and the clip and you'll be good to go!

Hi Peter,

For some reason my windscreen washer reservoir has stopped dumping its load onto the road. The headlamp washers still don't work and as I'm busy with so many other things I've decided to save that little job until the drier, warmer weather comes.

Same with me, I have no money left for winter tires so I rent garage for parking my baby during winter. Just take it every second weekend for a ride to circulate fluids :-(
I am working on these ... rear diff. bushings, it is really bad (no harm for car, but you should hear and feel what it is doing during ****ing:-(....). Subaru told me again, although it is piece of rubber and metal, I should buy new diff. No way, they are soooo greedy...:-)

That's what I did a while ago and I haven't lost another clip since!
