Back from the dealer...

I'm back from the dealer, one more time, I'm so often there that I have friends in the garage. This time they replace all the engine gasket, they rebuild the cylinder head (some valve were bad) and many other little thing....2500$ I've been separated from my SVX for 3 weeks (some parts were back order). When I got the car I had to put 2200$ in it to replace the timing belt, remachined the crank shaft, the crank pulley and tune up. I've replaced a rear wheel bearing for 500$. It's a lot of money but my car now's almost new...

People around me think i'm crazy because I'm not selling it to get something cheaper to repair. When I tell them that it's the greatest car I ever owned, and in my opinion, one of the greatest ever, they just look at me and don't understand. Anyway someone who had never driven a SVX will never understand.....

So i'm back in my SVX with the largest smile in town!

Yep, that is the rule, not the exception for the stalwart SVX enthusiast. We have to live with it. Great to see you've gotten your car back. Hopefully now, you'll have many carefree miles.

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

I'm convinced that dealerships are a bunch of crooks with technicians who are actually chimpanzees who 'sort of' know how to use tools. I will never be taking any car I ever own to the dealership EVER again. I took my SVX in for exhaust noise, and they claimed it was the water pump, and while they did that they should do this and this and this and I ended up losing about $1000.

I will get even though.

I think it all depends on the dealer. I'm currently trying to get some compensation for a poor rear wheel bearing install from Lancaster County Motors Subaru, but they wont even return my calls! Not a very class act (although their prices are quite... classy!).

I would, however, have Kerven Subaru do anything to my car that it ever would need. In fact, they're the only place that I trust anymore.

The dealer where I got my car fixed is very good. There's a technican with a SVX and the rest of the tech know what they're doing. They all know what a SVX is and I didn't see any chimpanzees at "Subaru de Repentigny" Maybe the Quebec Sub Tech are the best . When my car was in the shop, the dealer lend me a 2004 Impreza TS for free for 3 weeks. I'm really satisfied with the service I got. It sad that you had bad experience with your dealer but they're not all like you said.
