Question Brake Shims

I just got my new pads in the mail and I have brake shims with them. I've never used or seen these before. How are they mounted? I have shiny pieces of brake pad shaped metal and then some black pieces and then lots of gold clips. I don't know what to do with any of it!

I think the front pads have 2 shims on them and the backs have 1. I only have six shims. The shiny metal ones (I'm so technical) clipped on and I put a black one on the back of it. Then for the rear pads a black one just fit on.

Make sense?

Jeff

sounds right, when I took mine off they were all rusted out and nasty. so I can't help with the colors. Did you get front and rear pads?

I think the way mine were, (I've only done the fronts) on the inside pads there were two each and the outsides had 1 each. But it's been a while and I don't really recall.

All I know is that I'll NEVER EVER buy bendix replacement pads for mine again.
