Funny engine noise

This might be just my paranoia, but in case it's a sign of something serious, I'll ask you guys about it.

I noticed that when my SVX idles, it makes a cyclic noise - like a RRRrrrrrrRRRrrrrrrRRRrrrrrrRRR sort of noise. It idles at a normal speed, and the revs don't lope up and down perceptibly, but it's making a noise like it is. A/C was off and I had the car in the garage on jackstands - I had just hooked the transmission cooler back up and wanted to make sure it didn't leak before I put the bumper back on.

Any ideas?

Mine did that after the ECU had been without power for a while. It settled down in a day or so.

Hope that helps.

Significant Technical Input
Use a long screwdriver or similar (a stethoscope would be good ) and listen around the front cover of the engine. You may have an idler, tensioner, alternator, p/s pump or a/c comp. bearing going bad.
