Sure it does. It's called SYMBOLISM. I guess by your reasoning, that an American Flag does nothing either, since it only a piece of fabric that flops in the air, potentially causing a visual obstruction. And please run out and peel off that American Flag sticker or whatever it is that you have on your bumper, since it does nothing either.

vkykam, you have always had intellegent things to say and i think that this should be added to your list. some ppl don't understand that some can't show they care in big ways. just having your lights on, knowing that you are doing it for a cause, no matter the cause, is a good thing. it is just showing that you remember and still care.

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

Example of why I think the headlight thing is stupid:

1. It does nothing to 'better' our nation
2. It wastes fossil fuels
3. It isn't productive
4. It doesn't really require any effort on your part, other than flipping a switch.

HOWEVER, a MEANINGFUL TRUE WAY to express the pride of your country could be defined as:

1. It 'betters' our nation
2. It doesn't waste fossil fuel
3. It's productive
4. It requires time, effort, and thought on your part.

That stupid flag chain letter is an INSULT to patriotism.

Looks to me like it's time to ban professional, college and high school sports.

I dont think any of those claim to be patriotic, but I'd be fine without college sports. They kind annoy me. A bunch of old people getting drunk and acting like supremists ick. Course, I live in a college town and have to put up with it. Meh.

Kelli,

Thank you. (Bows in appreciation).

I have to keep it from getting to my head, or I'm going to get carried away...

I have found pics of the Opel Calibra which is used alot in Austria and Germany.

Do you have the same car in the US, or is it named otherwise?

Here are some pics.

I like the sporty line of that car and sometimes at night if a calibra passes me on the other side of the road I think for a short moment it is a SVX.
Marty, I'm sorry your post got overlooked. No, we don't have the Opel Calibra here, and I'm pretty certain that no car in our market shares the platform. Although, now that I think of it, new Saab models share platforms with Opels, right? So it's possible that we have a similar car here, but not the Calibra itself in any recognizable form.

Thumbs up Ok

thanx Mr. Pocket for answering my question.
Maybe this question wasn't that interesting for this thread?
Maybe I ask some stupid question sometimes and
my english isn't that good to ask/explain it the right way.
But I am really happy to be a member in this GREAT SVX-Family.

Err.....without getting into the S13 Silvia wars that are raging I am not sure that the US even got the S13 series...only the S14.

The S13 looks like this:

http://nara.cool.ne.jp/s13silvia/

and a shot that looks very SVX'ish, especially when they are coming at you from a distance, is:

http://nara.cool.ne.jp/s13silvia/masachi6.jpg

The other car, which, from the distance and from the rear, is the 626 from 2 generations ago...their rear light panel tricks me somtimes if I see it far ahead in traffic.
