ECU swap: OBD2 for OBD1?
Has anyone thought of doing this? Would it be plug and play, or is the wiring harness/connectors different for OBD2? I'd like to run an ECUtune Stage 1 chip in a '96, but of course it's not made for OBD2. Could I swap my ECU for a pre-96, I wonder?

Re: ECU swap: OBD2 for OBD1?
No, there were additions to the OBDII systems that the OBDI's do not have. BUT everything from an OBDI system is and should be present in an OBDII

Re: ECU swap: OBD2 for OBD1?
Do you need to swap the TCU when swapping a OBDII engine and tranny into a OBDI car. My OBDII tranny shifts smooth as butter in my OBDI car. Just thought Id ask

Re: ECU swap: OBD2 for OBD1?
No because you are using an OBDI ECU... There is communications beyond the OBDI standards between the OBDII ECU and TCU. If you change one, it is suggested you change the other as well.
