mileage check...
How many miles to all of you have on your SVX's, and what problems have you had? I have 111K on mine, and i'm debating whether to spend 2-4 grand to fix it up (trannie, paint, etc) or to sell it! I'm hopeing a lot of you will have over 200K!

this might get me thrown out, but...
it's just a car.
It all depends on what you want to drive. I've got almost 122K on mine, and in the last year have invested more than the vehicle is worth. My wife has been after me since day one to sell it and buy a Supra. While her taste in husbands is flawless, she don't know jack about cars.... |

well, can't help you with the over 200k club, but i have about 110K, and the only REAL problems that i know of was replaced tranni at about 75k, (Previous owner) Entire EGR system replaced (didn't really need it, but oh well) and then timing belts, crank seals and so on at about 90k....
what transmission would you plan on putting in? i think it would definatly be worth it, because the cars not worth much at all without a tranni...what condition is the rest of the car in?

The rest of the car is in pretty good shape...the previous owner replaced the struts at like 65k, I just had new belts, timing belt, water pump, crankshaft pulley, valve seals, etc. Transmission doesn't slip, but theres a delay shifting between reverse and drive, and two transmission places found a lot of debris in the fluid. I'm hoping it'll last a few thousand miles more. I'm planning on taking it to DRWtransmission (drwtransmission.com) if I do end up keeping it. Anyone ever have theirs done there?

SVX #1 -- Almost 190K, a transmission nightmare, but only because the previous owner put the wrong transmission in when they repaired it. Otherwise, the car's had no other major repairs. One wheel bearing replaced.
SVX #2 -- Just over 150K. Tranny was replaced by previous owner at approximately 118K. I bought it with 124K. One bearing fixed. Will change Power steering cooler this weekend. Replaced both O2 sensors and the MAF. It didn't go out, however. It was broken and patched, and the patch finally gave way. Once I re-patch it (with epoxy instead of just electrical taping the "chunk" that was knocked out of it), I'll have a spare MAF.

You can see the mileage on mine below. The only problem I have had is with the 5 speed. That is a long and continuing story.

Did you ever order the history of that car yet ?
www.carfax.com or something. Scope where it came from , who had it , how much work , how much accidents it's lived to tell about. Cause you know..from what little work we did , Water pump , pulley kit , new belts , new higher quality T.B. , intake , tightening up things here and there..just stuff like that , minus it being 8-10 degrees out of time , It sounds 200% beter then when we first pulled off the lot with it...Dag yo..that was a cold day and the seats are leather , gah..hella froze until it got warm. |

Color matching will be cheaper than buying a brand new one.

178k. Origninal transmission lasted 16xk miles, i boguht her with the trans completely gone at 171k miles. origional owner put new radiator, knock sensors, maf, he basically got it started for its second life. The engine is strong, but has pistons slap(or some kind of knock knock at the door) and the nitrous isnt blowing up the thing either. 5spd swap at 172k

146K on mine
Now undergoing the worlds slowest 5 speed swap. I sold the auot to another member here.
In the last 1.5 years I've replaced one rear wheel bearing, headgaskets, water pump/t-stat/hoses/radiator cap, front rotors and pads, transfer clutches (on the auto before it was removed). With the exception of the wheel bearing, I did the work myself. I'll do the next wheel bearing myself once she's mobile again. Todd

Re: 146K on mine
Quote:
230K on first SVX, a dozen transmission rebuild, one rear bearing, quite a few front CV boots, an engine transplant this past spring (turned out only to be a cracked flexplate so I have a good spare engine) 2nd SVX has 187K and i don't know what had been done to it. Doug
