My mechanic recommended a local guy with an outstanding rep to wet sand and clearcoat my car, and that guy gave me the same business, saying that anything other than collision repair was too much of a PITA. Wouldn't even talk about a price.

A couple of weeks ago there was an article in the local paper about the many restored collectible cars in this region, in which the reluctant paintmeister was mentioned prominently. Oh, well...
