Fuel Injection cleaning
Hey guys.. Im looking to clean up my car... "internally...."
Want to run some Fuel Injection system cleaning Carb cleaning etc. I was recommended this stuff called Seafoam so I will be trying that out... However I dont think it would be possible to put anyhting into PCV Valve since its underneath the engine block... I was wondering where the break line booster is? Also, what type of things like that would you recommend for an SVX...as far as Fuel Injection cleaners and stuff go? Thanks, -Sov. |

Hey I'm going to do the seafoam thing tomorrow.. It says you can run it anywhere through the vacuum, so I'll let you know where I run it through tomorrow and how everything turns out. Also, you may want to check out the intake manifold thread , as i'm sure if you go that route, everything will be squeaky clean too. As far as in the tank stuff, I usually run the prestone fuel injection cleaner (comes in yellow bottle) or autozone's TL-3 fuel injection cleaner. You can use the lucas fuel injection cleaner or marvel mystery oil as well, but I question their effectiveness as neither one are flammable by themselves.. (to an open flame such as a lighter) Don't ask how i know...

Hey Sov,
An udpate on the sea foam.. Stuff works great! everything feels squeeky clean and free of hesitation. Follow the instructions on the bottle... I ran mine through the vacuum system... FYI DO THIS OUTSIDE... That is not a suggestion, it is a MUST... also, your whol neighborhood might hate you...but its pretty fun to watch all the smoke billowing out anyway

Hmmm.. I actually fed it in through a vacuum line located on the rear left side of the manifold if u are standing in front of the car looking at the engine. It's located on the manifold itself and has a metal 'nipple' that the hose connects to... I can snap a pic if it would be helpful...

Heya Sov,
You can either disconnect the hose and run it through there, or attach a length of vacuum line to the metal nipple on the manifold and run it that way too... Hope this helps. -Daniel

So the fluid has to go into the nipple on the engine? not the detached hose? am I correct? and then just start the engine and it sucks the fluid out of the bottle?
Or am I missing something? Thanks a lot! |

That's the way I did it was pull the hose off, attach piece of vacuum line to metal nipple on manifold, start car (or already have car running) and suck about 1/3 of the contents of the bottle up. Turn car off...
Let sit for about 5 mins or so... Start up car (IN WELL VENTILATED AREA).. Have fun with the smoke show I should also note that I got tired of waiting around for it to stop smoking so I took it our for a brisk little drive through some quiet street... Man was that some fun fumigation, heh heh heh
