DVD Player Installed!
I picked up an in dash dvd player for my SVX not long ago, as it was without a radio. It's AM/FM/CD/DVD/MP3/MP4/CCTV/iPod, and finally got around to installing it today. My first hangup was the fact that I needed a 6" antenna extension, else this would have been done some time ago. Here's some pictures of the install:
Overall I'm pleased with it. I tested it and such before install, no problems. I wired the parking safety wire to a screw in the dash, it has the power antenna wire, and all that fun stuff. Sound is good, video is good, no complaints at all. Costs: DVD Player - $260 Shipped Antenna Extension - $5 Shipped Connectors - $3.19 local store Took about 1hr to get everything together, so not bad I don't think. It is pretty flush with the front door removed from the radio cage. I took dual rca to 1/8" and wired it under the console to come out right under where the ebrake handle is, so I can put my mp3 player there. It has front mount usb port, for hooking up a usb flash drive and playing media from there.

Re: DVD Player Installed!
Oh, the gaps in person aren't nearly as obvious, just thought I'd point out.

Re: DVD Player Installed!
What happened to your coin holder?
I'm just playing.... Looks like a good unit... and a good price. Personally I would be eaten alive with the fact the gaps are there and would have to find a resolution in dressing it proper. Any night shots yet?

Re: DVD Player Installed!
Looks like a nice unit! Was there no way possible to have the door on there?

What he can do is a good professional job on the "previous" door to change it into a fixed frame for that screen. He would then fill the gaps.

Re: DVD Player Installed!
I have several "projects" going on with the car right now, thus the coin holder. It's hard to explain how the gaps are there in hte picture, but not there in real life. There's no possible way to keep the door in there, unless I cut a hole in the door the size of the screen, and put it on that way, which I may do yet, if it doesn't block the SD card slot on the side, I'm still toying with spacing on that. Another concern is the unit opening, I'd have to have clearance for the unit to open and the door remain there. The pictures towards the end are night shots, just with flash, as it got dark while I was doing the project.
Getting the wires in the back not all jumbled so it would fit sucked, but I eventually got it. I'll be avoiding removing the headunit at nearly all costs.
