i have a headache and don't feel like searching or doing the math - is 225/45/17 the right size for the SVX with 17x7.5 wheels?

my aching brain thanks you.

245X45X17 will be 3.31% off (25.7" tall vice OEM of 24.9" tall)

a closer match would be 245X40X17 at -0.57% off (24.7" tall)

You said 225 right?

that's 24.97" tall as opposed to 24.86". Only 0.4% difference.

ok, how about this - what is the widest tire that will safely fit on a 17x7.5" wheel for the SVX.

i'd look up the tire size calculator, but even typing this hurts head.

Max width is gonna depend on rim offset. My 235s rub because the wheels stick out 15mm farther than they should.

The proper width tire for a 17x7.5" rim is a 225. You can go wider which may look cool, but the tire starts getting squeezed, and the tread starts getting bowed.

I recently just bought 18" x 7.5" and will be going with 225. I found that 225 was the most suggested size for that width.

Another Question: Will 225/45-18 rub at all?

That all depends on the offset. You should be able to go as low as 40mm at least with 225's.

225/45-18 series tires are a full one inch taller than the OEM tires. Are you sure you want to do that? Your speedo will be off by 4% or so, and the tires may rub the top of the fenderwell when the suspension bottoms out. If you want to keep the OEM tire height with 18" rims, then use 225/40-18 tires.

17 x 8" Wheels

I'm going to need a new set of tires soon for 17 x 8" wheels. The tire calculator on the 1010 tires page is confusing. For 245 width tires it says 8' rims would be the minumum choice. Would 245 be entirely safe and not wear the tires out of the ordinary. Thanks.

Mike
