Well, it's good that it wasn't a faulty mod install.

Enough expensive things happen to the SVX without adding to the grief.

Pleased you got to the core of the problem.

Joe

Yay! Great when it's just something simple in the way, eh? Enjoy the mod.

Yeah but my check engine light on pops on for 30secs to a min. But again sorry for assuming it was this, I thought I counted right but I had some more time and sat there for 15 mins reading it.

That is good to hear Gordon.

Now we have proven that the Power mode mod works on all SVX models from 92 all the way through to 97.

Great work man! Thanks for the help. It will be good to see your pictures, and I hope you enjoy Reading.

Many thanks!

Thank you for the kind words, I want to thank everyone here, for thinking this up! this is by far the best mod I've done yet, although I have only done a few...I have the smallcar shiftkit in all 3 SVXi, I don't think you need or want it with the power mode. my reason for getting the shiftkits (before I read through all the negative posts here) was the flare between gears under 1/2 throttle. I am going to try disconnect/ jumping out the shift kit and see what difference it makes.
Other mods I have is the intake resonator removed on my daughter's (sweet sound, no power increase) and the ECUtune v1.5 (crisper response) but this mod really wakes up the car. With the 4.44 (my next major mod to my daughter's car) this must be awesome.

Excuse me for derailing the thread for a moment, but how difficult was it to remove the intake resonator? I did that mod on my old Legacy, and it consisted of removing the wheel well cover, undoing two bolts (one on the bottom was a royal pain to get to), and pulling out. What's the SVX's like? Similar? Did you just cut the pipe in half at the split point, or did you mod the intake pipe some?

Just curious.

Intake resonator was dirty, but low skill level
jackup, remove pass side wheel, peel down front wheel cover, WD40 the nut/bolt on the small fender brace and carefully remove, remove IIRC 3 or maybe 4 bolts...I used the write up found searching here, it wasn't hard. I didn't do anything with the intake pipe yet, presently sucking hot air...at the time, didn't want to hackup the resonator, it really is a nice piece of engineering. I was going to fab something. I took resonator off at Thanksgiving time in CT, wasn't very worried about hot air... hope to see some good examples at at Reading tomorrow!
VERY sweet sound, OTOH I grew up wanting a Porsche...

O.k I visited my local Auto Zone to get a simple Toggle Switch and Using some Speaker wire I had around and put it in the driver side handle. Where the hand is put to close the door. it doesn't sit right but I will mess with it tomorrow or Saturday. But the Switch works on command. I need a smaller switch Length wise, as it hits the metal. Again not the best place but its the only place I could think of that didnt require dismantling the car or the Manual Button. Ideal spot would be where it is put JDM but untill I can get free time. >.> I wanted the mode but I didnt want manual button outta use. Of course a switch to control which it sends ground to would do. O.k enough thinking sleep time.

Re: Power Mode Selection

Can you? or has anyone used a 12v lighted mini rocker switch for this?

Something like the above?

Never tried it.

The pins on a lighted rocker tend to be 1-power, 2-switched-power, 3-ground. It might work if you reversed it: 1-ground,2-switched-ground(TCU),3-power. But it depends whether the light inside is a simple bulb or an LED.

You don't really need a lighted switch because the power light on the dash will come on.

I was wanting to install two on the gearbox shifter (the two openings) 1 for the power mode mod and another for something else, yet to be determined and would like both of them to illuminate when switched on is all.

Re: Power Mode Selection

Looks like I'm reviving an old thread, but its relevant to my question. After reading this I'm thinking I might want to try this mod, but I suppose I should figure out if I have a problem first. When I start my car and all the lights come on, the power light does in fact light up. But I have not been able to get it to light up while driving, and it seems to me as though my shifts are not responding as they should. When I floor the gas I get the acceleration I expect, but the tranny doesn't shift into second until after the tach hits the redline. Seems to me that its shifting a lot later than it should, and its revving up so much that it practically skips 2nd gear. Any ideas? (Keep in mind this is my first auto tranny, and I'm not exactly sure if its doing what it should or not.)

Re: Power Mode Selection

Try taping the gas to the floor and see if it comes on.
