Re: Aluminum Radiators with 5 pass trans cooler!

If it still rubs, then they have not fixed all the problems with the original run. The overall height needed to be reduced by approximately 1/4" to provide for cap clearance. Apparently this fix has not been done.

Are these guys sending out the correct caps for those of us that bought it back when they were sending the wrong ones? What's the quickest way to get this issue fixed besides dremeling the ear off of my existing cap? I'd like to receive the right cap from them.

Lee, this would be the case if I do have in fact the latest version. I don't know how many revisions they have made, but I know that mine was one of the newer revisions as everything else fit properly.

I bought three directly from PWR.
If I bought less the price would go up.
I had to show that I was a business,
had an F.E.I.N.,
a WV resellers licence,
fax them my business licence, etc.
They cost me $500.00 each, before CC interest.
You can pick them up here for $520.00.
Or I can ship them out for that plus DHL-USA shipping.
If we could have a group buy for thirteen or so, we could get a better price, but thats alot of people to go for it.

Re: Aluminum Radiators with 5 pass trans cooler!

The new runs seem to fit much better... No modifications to make the fans fit as everything it a direct bolt on... My cap does not hit either although I do not have a stock hood and my lower bushings have been shaved down for fitment reasons as well. So far no leaks or issues at all... Works great.

Re: Aluminum Radiators with 5 pass trans cooler!

Actually to me with stock hoods the overall height was the BIGGEST problem with the first version. Most of the other problems were manageable.

Tom, my radiator didn't require any hose/fan modifications either. How did you go about shaving the bushings? That's a good idea, I might look into that.

Do you have a contact name over @ PWR for me to request a better Cap if they have one?

Thanks,

-Walter

Re: Aluminum Radiators with 5 pass trans cooler!

When I took the radiator out, I popped the lower mounting bushings out... Sat down with a blade and cut off a good deal of the top of the bushing... I left enough to cushion it and leave the full diameter of the bushing. As for the cap, cut the ears off of the 16psi car they give you... But just be sure there is not any debris in the cap itself when re-installed or else it will likely leak anyway.

Lee, I know all about the 1st gen leaks. If you pull the rad and talk to them about returning it for a new one, you will likely get it done for cost of shipping.

Re: Aluminum Radiators with 5 pass trans cooler!

Tom, thank you for the reply.
Good to know the bushings can be shaved without reducing cushioning.

I tried cutting the cap sometime ago, but I didn't like that solution.

< rant="begin" >
To be quite honest with you, having to shave bushings to fit a $500+ radiator in the car it was made for is something that really bothers me. Driving around with a partially cut cap and having to shave new caps when replacement time comes is not something I am willing to do, besides I want to have a clean looking SVX without any "rigs".

I would be willing to deal with these issues if the guys over @ PWR sold them for an exceptionally good deal, but we are paying a lot of money for these radiators (save the occasional small discount for group buys) and I would expect a product that fits.

I will try shaving the bushings and see if the problem is corrected, otherwise I am gonna call these guys and have them correct it.

-Walter

Walter I understand the frustration... You drive an extremely limited production vehicle with an even smaller aftermarket interest. You must realize most SVX owners don't want to pay more than what they can get a silla for. So, we must do what we can with what we have... Like I said, mine does not leak for a second and I have not cut the cap. I have trimmed my bushings and that is all. I do have a fiberglass hood which may in fact have better clearances than the stocker although it shouldn't. To be totally honest, we should be happy that there is an alternative to plastic radiators at all.

Re: Aluminum Radiators with 5 pass trans cooler!

Like I said from the very beginning--it doesn't take a rocket scientist to measure a stock radiator height from top to bottom and ensure the same height in replication. Or does it??

I also happen to believe that a $500 radiator should at least be a dimensionally correct fit.

Its a very good radiator but could be great with just a little attention to detail.

Re: Aluminum Radiators with 5 pass trans cooler!

If you guys have such issues with them why not return it and get a chinese radiator of 1/4 of the price from ebay?? I mean I understand your frustration... I have had 3 of them already. I continue to use them because they are good radiators.
