My Poor SVX!!!!!!!! WHY,WHY

Its a sad day everyone! My poor svx was involved in a fender bender today. What is messed up about it is that I wasnt the one driving. My sis in law was. She's alright, but my svx has some damage to the front bumper. The hood is bent, slightly. She claims that the car wouldnt stop.(oh just so you all know, we have about 2 inches of snow on the ground as I write this)She says she was doing maybe 10 mph. Now, we all know how this car behaves in the snow. I believe her when she says it wouldnt stop, but I dont believe her when she says how fast she was going. The car is a little sluggish when it comes to stop in the snow. She says she was coming to a stop light which just turned green and the lady in front of her in a gmc jimmy, hesitated to start going. So she hit the brakes thinking the car has some magical little dwarfs sitting in front of the car waiting to stop it. This accident was based on inexperience in snow driving. It is uncalled for. Luckily I have full coverage. Maybe I can get my windshield fixed cuz of this. But all in all, I have learned my lesson. NEVER LET ANYONE DRIVE YOUR CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear about your car. Mine is fully parked today. I saw the snow. I was going to go send out calendars but those can wait one more day. I am kind of sick as well so might as well be safe and take a rest.

I don't have aproblem with letting people drive the svx. Just in the snow. In the snow, I don't drive other people's cars either. 10mph with bent hood is just a little too weird too. Worst case, the bumper will be cracked at 10.
Oh well.

Good luck bud.

tires??

Sorry about your car but at least its fixable.

As an aside, did you have real snow tires on the car? Not all seasons, not summer tires, the real McCoy SNOW tires?

AWD does NOT improve braking on snow even 1% and if you have a passion to drive your car in winter, its cheap insurance to have snow tires:

I put 215/60 x 16 Nordic Icetrac (made bt Michelin) on my car & the difference was absolutely ENORMOUS over all season tires.

Further, I paid $77.00 Canadian each, which is less than $42.00 usd per tire ... cheap safety!!!

re: sorry to hear that

i'm sorry to hear that. i do know a salvage yard with an immaculate front from the windshield on. i know they were planing on selling the whole front for $1000. i can get their number for you if you want. the front is perfect. i'd buy it if i had the cash. bumper, hood, both fenders, engine, everything is perfect. they had an accident on the rear passenger that the insurance deemed unrepairable. let me know. good luck.

Hotshoe's snow tyres would seem to be good insurance, and cheaper than repair bills.

I have all seasons on my SVX. But, I guess now I will be putting on some good snow tires. But, maybe next winter. If any good will come out of this accident, I think its cuz of the fact that now I will be getting a new windshield which was cracked before the accident. Plus, since both of my headlights are pushed in, I guess they will be replacing those, too. They were stained! And, to anyone who has to drive in snow or ice,BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!!!!!!! Having awd dosent mean our SVX's are invunerable to accidents.

Hey,

Are those headlights cracked? If not, can I get them if they are replacing them? I can even come out.

ON the second thought, if you still have them, I'd take them.
