Angry I'm losing faith in Subaru!

After a long year of transmissions not working properly and over $10,000.00 in repairs, I am finally getting mad. I have tried to hold my cool to this point but NOT anymore. I am on the fourth tranny in 10 months and this one too, is acting up. I want it fixed so I bring it to the dealership. They do find the problem ( a very audible and felt "thunk" of the rear wheels when the front wheels loose traction.) They have the area district rep. from Subaru test the car also. Yes he hears the sound too. But according to the rep. an SVX runs that way and there is no problem at this time with the transmission! WHAT??? How the hell do you figure the rear wheels jerking so hard when they engage it feels like the front wheels are in first gear and the rear go into first and about remove you from the road! What happend to active safety? Or is it now active accident occurence? So I called 1-800-SUBARU-3... The customer service lady tells me the area rep here is apparently the sole proprietor of Fugi Heavy Industries, because he has no superior at all and no other person in the company has more superiority than him. I am pissed by this time. Not to mention the fact that the security system worked geat when the car was dropped off. Now a 3 hr. charge must be paid by me to repair the malfunction that they caused? What? It goes on and on but I just need to vent and see if anyone knows a "big" person that works for Subaru? Any help would be appreciated and/also any search words for a fix it myself digram of the security system could help!

Sorry, I don't know anybody you could talk to, but I hope that they settle this for you. Keep working on them - your car is clearly not working correctly and they need to fix it.

Try to keep your cool. I know that your situation is terribly frustrating, but don't get emotional about it. Getting angry won't get you anywhere with them.

Here's what I would do. Visit the sales people. Test drive another Subaru model from about the same year as yours and compare it to your SVX. Make sure it's an AWD auto model. I guarantee that if that car is working correctly, it won't act like yours. Make an appointment with the service manager and show him the difference between the two cars.

I wish you the best of luck, and please keep us informed.

Significant Technical Input
What you could do is shop for a new model and have them give you a trade-in appraisal. When they tell you how much ask them why it's so low. If they say it's because the transmission's faulty... bang!, you've got 'em by the short ones.

OOoOoO...Beav you're mean. (I love it!)

G,

Also consider threatening with the usual, Better Business Bureau, local TV station consumer advocate and the like.

Good luck. I know how frustrating this can be.

SVX'n,

I think you bought the car used. However, check into your state's lemon laws. You may have to speak to a lawyer.
Good Luck.

i know some people that have 5 year warr on their tranny's. i don't know if you do or not, but might want to check into it.

if you don't...i would go there and stand in front and tell every person that comes there how this ppl do business. i would call the better business bureau. i would right editorial to all the local newspapers. i would call the local news station and tell them. heck...you might wanna even call Montell and get it on his show...

Kelli

the last one was a joke...but there are plenty of ways of getting your point across. tell some of your friends to go down there and ask about some things and then...when the meeting is almost over and this company thinks they are getting somewhere...have your friends say..."hey wait...isn't this the place where.........you guys pull.........never mind..."

goodluck

Like when my parents bought their 87 GL10 brand new and the dealership couldn't fix the leaky sunroof after 4times. They rote (insert dealer name hear)SUBARU SUCKS, across the back window of the car and parked out in front of the place.

Not to side with thr rep but that is an AWD thing. They should help you fix it though. Friend of mine had a problem with his audi doing same thing. the tranny moving is causing the rear difs to lock. try eurothane(?) mounts. is there a drive train stabalizer. that could help. it id for him.

Guys thanks for the words of support, but the problem isn't the dealership. It is SOA, who is not willing to fix the problem. The dealership has been very nice and gone beyond the usual... I have very hostile feelings to SOA at the moment and had hopped someone here might know someone that is in a high posistion with Subaru.
But thanks for all the support...

Here is my questions on the situation...

1) Is the car under warranty? (extended subaru or original Subaru) if the answer is "No" then SOA has absolutely ZERO to do with your problem. When you get a car repaired at a dealership, that is out of warranty it is the same as getting it repaired at any other registered repair shop in your state. It's between the owner of the repair shop (in this case the subaru dealership) and the owner of the car (you)

2) I'd have a 2nd diagnosis by a different subie dealer, if they tell you the same thing then, perhaps they are correct, if they say there is something wrong, then you have a leg to stand on.

The transmissions are covered by the SOA parts warranty that covers their tranny and labor for two years from the date of installtion. Every tranny they put in starts a new 2 years too. So in essence it is a SOA warranty. The dealer only gets paid if the maunfacture says to replace it.

sounds like the tranny mount to me. Mine does it all the time. Well sort of. I drive mine hard and race it at the track. Needless to say I wipe out a mount every 16-24 months. Two years ago I took the motor mounts out as well. THAT was expensive. I am working with a eurathane (sp) company that makes performance aftermarket parts. Working on getting engine and tranny mounts in a solid eurathane(sp) mold. Will keep ya posted if interested.
