Front light housing

I honestly want fog lights. All winter has been very foggy here with an abundance of forest and it's four legged inhabitants in all sizes. It's mostly B-road, too.

I've got a euro solution with two fogs in the rear and nothing in the front. Is the front housing made to accomodate fog lamps and is the wiring present so it's just a matter of going ahead? Or will this cost me money and effort?

I already have some funky wiring and an extra relay + interior switch due to the previous owner's lust for Hellas (I took them off).

Re: Front light housing

You have a spot for them, but not the hardware.

In place of a bulb holder you have a blank metal plate. It can be replaced with the right parts but it would take some time. You might consider putting the hellas back on.

Re: Front light housing

Thanks.

Or possibly get a housing which has the bulb holder in order? Or would that ruin the tilting function?

Re: Front light housing

If you were to swap housings you would loose your tilt, wiring compatibility, bulb type etc. It would be much easier to harvest the bits you needed to mount the bulb in your housing.

Re: Front light housing

Thanks! I'll consider it. Checked with local regulators and even if it would increase safety, I'm not sure they will allow such a retrofit.

Just to rip this up. I sure have a metal plate there but it's round and has the text "Open ->" on it. So I basically need to fit a USDM/JDM bulb holder and some power? Isn't that something like "buy assembly and fit it where it belongs" operation?

I can use the relay and wiring for the Hella fit, it's all still there (except the Hellas).

Re: Front light housing

Pretty much, you have to put your assembly in the oven for a period of time to soften the glue that holds the lens on. Remove the lens add the U.S. parts and reassemble.
