Good second car? SVX maybe?
Ok well im 16, yea i drive a Sterling 825SL nothing special gets me around, anyways ive been looking for a different faster car........ ive been looking at a lot of different cars, im not quite sure which to get because the choices and me just getting into it all, Im looking for something that is fast AWD, doesent have to be and easy to mod, im going to save about around 7-8k ......Ive been looking at a SVX like around 93-95, MR2's , RX-7's , older supras, toyota GT-4, DSM GSX sec gen, Subaru is probably my favorite company, but I dont have anything near the money for a WRX, the SVX seems really nice and powerfull and all, but it is such a rare car....that would parts be hard to find? Would it be harder to mod etc? Another reason is that i am looking something that will easily smoke the honda ---s at school with the big mufflers and blinging rims ...thanks

Re: Good second car? SVX maybe?
Welcome to the network.
Im looking for something that is fast AWD, doesent have to be and easy to mod May I recommend any other car apart from the SVX. I'll get into details on that in a bit. SVX like around 93-95, MR2's , RX-7's , older supras, toyota GT-4, DSM GSX sec gen, Subaru is probably my favorite company, but If you want the SVX, I recommend a 92 SVX. They are quicker than the 94+ I don't know why. I've owned 2 94s and a 92 and I can tell that 92s are quicker for some unknown reason. I dont have anything near the money for a WRX, the SVX seems really nice and powerfull and all, but it is such a rare car....that would parts be hard to find? You've just rang the bell. SVXes are hard to come by. Along with that, the part prices are really high. How many normal 10 year old cars have an ashtray that costs 90+ bucks and a windshield that costs over 700? If you want a fast moddable car, I'd recommend that you save some money and get an Impreza or a WRX (yes I know the WRXes are imprezas). Would it be harder to mod etc? Another reason is that i am looking something that will easily smoke the honda It looks to me that you want a non honda that is fast with AWD abilities with easy to modify parts and cheaper parts in general. I hate to loose a potential SVX owner but I have to say that sadly, SVX is not going to satisfy your hunger for your needs. I say DSM GSXs are a better choice. Hack we even have a neon guru here who can tell you that neons are better than most cars on the road Like I said before, save some money for the impreza or the legacy if you want FHI products. SVX is a unique car and along with it's uniqueness, parts are expensive and there are not many modification options out there for the SVX. In another word, SVX suffer in quickness where it's body style prevails. Give it a year or two and if you still want the SVX, then you are in for one. Look at me. I ended up spending more than 10k on my first SVX (in less than a year) and I ended up getting 2 more and I am currently eyeing on one more. Good luck with your search.

id rather get something fast now, then save up over a while and get a WRX STI, if I got it around now, i would have to probably get a loan or something, dunno if thats worth it. I think the cheapest to get a decent not to old impreza is like a 2.5 RS for around 12 grand I think? I could always save for that and drive it for a while, but its not as fast as the 2.0 turbod, but has more torque, is it that much better in torque?

well I just never really them making a hype like the 2.0 does, maybe your right though, I should just save up for a Impreza, I mean my car now only has 33k miles on it, so I still have a while to go with that, although the 30-35k will take forever to save, maybe it will be worth it in the end, car does fine stock so I wouldnt have to worry about modding it any time soon |

The CR of the 2.5 RS is NOT 12.5:1. The 98-99 were 9.5:1 and the 00-01 were 10:1, like the SVX. The WRX is 8:1.

If you get a SVX now, you wont want an impreza later.

You have a Honda now (or at least a Acura Legand engine). With less investment and a little brainpower to figure out the differences for the Sterling vs. the Legand you can make a car that would smoke any of the 4 banger Hondas. ...Or you could give me your Sterling and go get yourself a Neon.

I think you're going to have sort of a hard time finding a Celica GT-Four. The only GT-Fours in the US are either imported JDM cars or conversions.
Although there's an actual GT-Four on eBay right now, it's not street legal: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1863579297 If you want something moddable to beat Hondas, I think you're also looking for something that you can toss around and not have break constantly. The SVX is not a good choice, in my opinion. Just maintaining it can be expensive, but once you take into account aggressive driving, you're only compounding the problem. Kelley Blue Book says a '98 2.5RS is about $10,500. Dunno about that, but the Impreza is a reliable little car from what I can tell. But why try to 'beat' the Honda kids? If you find an SVX in good condition, you'll easily beat any of them in terms of class.
