Re: 17" or 18" .. which are better
I had 17's on my first svx. It rode nicely and looked great. I have 18's on my current pearlie, and though it looks great, the ride is not what it used to be.

Re: 17" or 18" .. which are better
I don't think my 18" wheels look out of proportion...
Wheels: 18" Privat – Netz Gloss Black w/ Mirror Machine Lip Tires: Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 225/40R18 92Y Hows it ride? Well my struts and mounts are shot ... and I'm on 40's .. so in a word, rough. |

Re: 17" or 18" .. which are better
Those look great on your car, yet when I see Muranos or Tribecca's (sorry Processengr) on a SVX they look out of proportion to me. Must have something to do with thickness of the spokes. And while I love the RX8 wheels, I wish they came in 17s because they still look a little big to me.

Will a +45 offset work ? Is it enough ?

Re: 17" or 18" .. which are better
I guess that would depend on the wheel width? Mine don't rub.
My wheels are: Size: 18" x 7.5", Offset: +45. I am running 225/40 tires They sit like this: Maybe this will help, wheel offset calc: http://www.1010tires.com/wheeloffsetcalculator.asp 7" +45 = 4mm more to the outside 7.5" +45 = 10mm more to the outside 8" +45 = 16mm more to the outside |

Re: 17" or 18" .. which are better
Currently running 17's and was using my stock 16's as winter rims. Once the car is rebuilt I'll be using 18's as my street/pretty wheels, and keep my 17" BBS for track use. I don't give a hoot about ride comfort or quality, I'm running 450 and 330 lb springs in the car right now.

Re: 17" or 18" .. which are better
My personal preference is for powdercoating original 16s, but as the shot with the tribecas shows, these sleek autos can make many wheels look good. I know you're asking for important handling and other info, but my only recommendation is to stay with silver.

Re: 17" or 18" .. which are better
Yay. Another chance to show off my wheels while everyone is on the subject.
Motegi MR7 Gunmetal 18x8, Achilles ATR Sport 235/40 tires. Fills out nicely especially once I get the lowering springs. Ride is still very liveable.

Re: 17" or 18" .. which are better
I hear you, my 2nd and 3rd set of rims for my svx were dual drilled, my 4th set(current though probably not my last) are single and they will stay until, or unless other problems come up. My 2nd set with blizzaks
and a close up of them My 3rd set, price was right and they got my blizzaks off before temps got too warm and my 4th set |
