so svxfiles, can i put two new tires on the front and keep the two good ones on the back or vice versa? Wich end would you put the new tires on, front or back. I would have the exact same tires just one end would be new.

If the circumferance of the front to the rear was within 1/2", I would install the new tires on the front where most of the braking, most of the pulling, and all of the steering takes place.

Yes, the front to rear clutch that you speak of is itself a differential with a clutch pack on one of the axles....
