Will this Tranny work

Hi guys. I am having some problems with my tranny (slipping between 1st and 2nd gears) so I am preparing for a possible tranny swap. Found this one on kijiji and was wondering if the experts here know if it is the one we need for our cars. It's out of a 97 Subaru Outback 2.5 liter DOHC (EJ25). The tranny isw reported to have only 120 000 km on it. here is a link to pic

Thanks for your help

You will also need the rear differential.
Can you post the transmission # located on the drivers side,,just above the starter?

Re: Will this Tranny work

I will ask the seller for that information. I imagine I could pick up a differential off another car eh???

Note that none of these are LSD.

Re: Will this Tranny work

I've got a tranny and diff from a '97 Outback in my Claret. Also the matching diff with the SVX LSD carrier.

P.S. Pretty reasonable price. If he's a wrecker he may have the diff. available.

Despite what Subaru had printed at the time, virtually the only LSD rear up untill 1999 was the SVX rear.
If later models had an LSD, (as I am told) it a later model than the ones that I posted.
And $500.00 just for a rear diff is a heck of alot more than the $500.00 that I spent today for a 1998 Forester 4.44 4EAT WITH THE OPEN REAR with 102,000 miles on it.:

That's a heck of a lot more than the $130 I paid for my 128k mile 4.44 out of a 97 legacy GT

I'll admit though, I had to pull it myself...
