quick question on putting the svx on blocks

Hey guys I was wondering where to exactly put the jacks to keep the svx up since it will be sitting in the garage for quite a while, I know it's probably in the manual but just thought I would ask first, thanks in advance, chris

Yes it would be best to look in the manual. The rear positions are fine but up front is a different story. I use the thick part of the body channels and put a piece of wood on the stand first.

I've heard that a stored car is best sitting on its own suspension with junk tires on it.

Perhaps you could get 3 more donut spares and let the car sit on those.

I agree with doug. Just go to the junk yard and get 3 more spares.

If you do this PLEASE post the pictures. I sense a new trend towards the Schwinn look.

Ron.

I was half way there a couple of months ago when my tires got slashed. I was wishing i had full size spares at that point becuase my car was one inch off the ground almost. But i guess that is how some people lower there cars (runnin' on 13's) hehe. But i would have to agree.....set your car on all four wheels.....don't be putting it on jack stands for a long amount of time becuase the chasis won't like it.

If your looking for long term strorage, jack up one tire at a time and take it off. Get some 6x6 pressure treated 12" long and place one directly under the lower arm at each wheel. The front ones go right under the bolts for the ball joints and sink in when the weight is on. The rear goes under the knob of the lower arm. I use this method when I do my brakes. I also would not leave the frame on stands.

How come you'r doing this? Don't you like to drive the car? Hopeing it will become more valuable or what?

John
