New Intercooler

Hey all,

My new Bar and Plate inter-cooler showed up yesterday. The core is much larger, with slim end tanks. Overall core size is 21x3x8. Shouldn't be all that difficult to finagle in, but I will be trimming out a large part of the bottom lip of the bumper cover. Not sure when I will get around to it but here is a pic.

You can have it for the price of shipping if you really want it. It is nothing special though and you could get a brand new one for less than a hundred shipped I would imagine.

Its a one-off made by a small machine shop. It is a copy of a Trust unit taken off an sr20 he built a few years ago.

Re: New Intercooler

Well heck, I think I will take it off of you.

What's your paypal address?

I'll give you more than shipping. How's $50 sound?

I want one that I know fits, plus I can say it was on YOUR car, and that counts for coolness points!

I will have to drag it up....I don't quite remember what the address was.

It will be good for a low boost setup on a smallish turbo. I get heat soak in third/fourth on a cool day and it doesn't do a great job in warm weather at all.

Here is a picture which shows just how much larger this will be. It looks like if I grind out a bit of the lower body pan i can hang it from above with most of it exposed.

Re: New Intercooler

Well, I'm not really planning on much more than 300-ish crank hp. I'm keeping mine automatic too with a built VB with my 4.11 gears and VTD trans, I think it'll launch pretty sweet.

Besides, I can always just add some water/meth injection!!

You let me know your paypal, and I'll make it happen.

Thanks Phil!

Re: New Intercooler

Well after grinding, cutting and pounding I have the new inter-cooler in and bumper trimmed up. The jacked bumper made it very annoying to get it in straight and true. I started the car but ran out of patience so it will have to wait to get the butt-dyno.

Nevin, will get the old unit out soon!

Who said you cant coax a nice sized intercooler in this car?

Re: New Intercooler

Slow it goes. I have made it fit better, as well as clear some more room for better flow.

Re: New Intercooler

Will you be removing some of the upper portion of the bumper that blocks the upper portion of the intercooler?

Looks very nice.
