Want to Buy Select Monitor
I am looking for a Select Monitor. I have purchased two of them and then the deal fell through. I am still looking for one. There isn't any member on the West Coast who has one and I want to be able to help read codes and figure out what is wrong with the more difficult problems.
If you know of a good one that is priced reasonably, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

There was a custom "select monitor" built for 1st gen legacies. Not sure how different the SVX ECU is, but some information on it is here:

If you're going to go down that path (custom monitor), then you might want to take a look in this thread...
Memory dump of ECUI have the 9-pin connectors available. I include the wire for +12V (in addition to the ones for TX, RX, and Ground shown on vrg3's page). E-mail me for details.

I've got one Earl. Not for sale now but when this SVX dies I'm moving on to other toy cars so I'll no longer have a use for it. I'll let you know when I'm ready to sell it.

I am currently working with the FreeSSM developers to try and get 100% SVX support on their software in the near future. FreeSSM will do everything that a real select monitor can do.
If you really want a real subaru select monitor, they come up on ebay occasionally. There are two currently on sale. I believe that the one below might be SVX compatible. But from the pictures it doesn't seem to have the right cables, nor the SVX cartridges that you would need. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=330424197863 I use one at work and they are rather clunky old technology. Vastly inferior to the modern software based solutions that you can have for a fraction of the cost.

Keep me posted on the software development. I had one purchased on ebay, but there was some stuff that happened and I didn't get it. Won't go into that now.
 Had another one purchased and that fell through as well.

not sure if this applies here.
my friend has a 94 leggy turbo and he told me there's this freeware program for reading codes for legacies/imprezas and he said he saw SVX as well in the listings. and the cable to make isnt that hard to do. once the 5spd is done i'm gonna get on making one of those readers and test it out. its designed for OBDI
