Door lock BS problems..

im having a problem with my door locks for some reason. The passenger door lock on my 92, but when i try and lock the drivers side as soon as i shut the door it will unlock and also wont lock with the key.

anyone ever have this problem?

thanks. i searched around but couldnt find anything as the problem im having

Two things. Are you lifting up on the door handle when you close the door? otherwise it will not stay locked. Secondly, will the key turn? If not, the lock cylinder may be seized from lack of use.

If these two things checked out, the electric motor for the door lock may be bad. If I remember correctly, this is part of the door latch and it shouldn't be hard to find a replacement.

yeah if i lift up the knob it automatically unlocks. yet it dosnt do that on the passenger side. the key works and u can here it lock yet when u open the door its still unlocked

Do this on a weekend, or whenever you have a free night followed by a day where you won't need the car. Once you have the lock out, get the cap of a small spray can and fill it with penetrating oil. Put the lock in overnight so it can get a good soaking.
