Sold our SVX look what happened...

I spoke with the neighbors and they are going to fix it. They only had liability on it so it will be an out of pocket fix.

Well the neighbor brought over a copy of the estimate. $6873.32 I'm guessing that they will decide not to fix it It was such a nice car when we had it.

Now that is really sad, the car was perfect. Hopefully someone here can buy and fix it.

How much of that was parts? I don't see very much labor there at all.

Well I just spoke with the neighbor they have decided not to fix the car. I'm debating on what to do. I don't really have the cash to offer to buy it from them. I would like to get the tires and wheels off of it since they are both new and only have about 500mi on them. I thought about asking them if they want me to part it out for them before they have it hauled off.

Should I offer to buy it back from them? If so what would be a fair price to offer them? We sold it to them for $4k.

I would try to, and for as little as possible.

What is the insurance buy-back, as they would probably be getting the insurance payout minus that... pay them what it costs to not send the car to the junk yard.

Agreed, it's only worth what you can easily remove in parts, factoring your time. Sad, a nice example of a $4,000 car, now, more/less, an example of a$400 parts car. Someone could combine their $400-purchased driving car, with the best parts on that car.

They only had liability on the car so there is no insurance payout. Can I call the insurance co to find out the buy back price would be?

That price figure is stupid high though. Some one here could still fix it easy peasy. In the end though u end up with a salvage title (no one likes that, especially on a car you wanted to keep as a toy).
