Who visits the regional forums?

Just curious as some of the regional forums are more active than others.

But basically if someone was to set up a meet in a given local area, it would be in that region's forum, but would everyone see the announcement?

As an example, over the last year or so I've twice tried to set up a meet in the Bay area in CA, using the SW forum. The number of hits it got vs. how many members from that area frequently post in General Babble or other main forums weren't even close.

Might have just been no one was interested but just curious. Maybe some other regions have had this happen too. I know in the NW we have everyone pretty trained to check in there often.

Re: Who visits the regional forums?

Troy, in the Europe Forum I often find that people mostly post and browse in the main forums because that's where most of the action is at and where most of the technical information is at.

Whether this alone is the main reason why people do not frequent the regional forum, I truly don't know.

Joe

Re: Who visits the regional forums?

Good points, Joe, and I agree.

I think it is best to have any open discussion or technical questions/answers out in the main forums for maximum participation.

It's just when it comes to the issue of planning/announcing local meets and events, or local "sightings", etc, that the regional forums come into play.

The downside is that people may forget those regional threads are there and miss out on something, amd people will be discouraged from starting things up too.

Guess I'm just trying to raise awareness, but polls are always interesting too!

Re: Who visits the regional forums?

Without trawling through previous posts from long ago I guess folk new to the site might be reluctant to ask about the common, to us, SVX foibles. The regional sites may well feel like a safer bet. I have been surprised, as an elderly technophobe, how strongly some responses have been worded. Forums are new to me and it looks as though normal standards of provocative dialogue are OK - in real life we would be outside fighting after some posts. Certainly in my part of the UK anyway. However, on a more constructive note wouldn't it be possible to get someone from Subaru Japan in on this site, preferably with his mates? Without this site I would not be able to run my SVX, so thank you all. My local Subaru dealer has never even seen one to put this into perspective. And please someone make it easier to contribute from abroad - I'm sure I can't send a cheque in dollars from an English bank. Visa? Paypal? I will now step down from my unqualified soap box on the european forum.....

Re: Who visits the regional forums?

I look at the regional once in a blue moon. There's no place for that in your poll.

Somewhere between "every time" and "once a month", for me.

Depends upon whether something is going on, or not...

Cheers!

Re: Who visits the regional forums?

If you use the new post option on this site, anytime anything new is posted, in the General Babble, or Regional Forums, you will see them. Many members do not know how to use this feature, but it is the best way to see all of the posts and not miss anything. I have posted these directions every once in awhile. I don't know if that helped or not.

If you choose the new post option you will get all of the new posts that have occured sence your last visit. You need to then clear or go to the quick links to mark all posts as read. Then the next time, you simply choose the new posts again. You will be able to see all of the posts and choose what you want to read.

I visit the regional forums when there are new posts, but I don't when there are not, unless I want to post something.
