Uggg!

My transmission started something new today.. It doesnt like to shift into 3rd or 4th gear without me letting off the throttle a bit, and it slips out of 4th and 3rd under moderate to high acceleration. Could the frictions be gone?

P.S. no blinking POWER light on startup..

Re: Uggg!

Yuppers, time for a rebuild as the high gear clutch pack is shot. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I have used http://www.transtar1.com/ I talked to the people there though instead of ordering online. I think there was a couple of extra frictions or something that I had to order with it.
http://www.drivetrain.com sells kits for the 4EAT as well. I ordered a shift kit for my SVX off of there.

Re: Uggg!

Mine's doing the same I'm hoping it'll last me through the winter.

In everyone's opinions, do you think someone with little mechanical experience could drop the tranny and do this? I don't know **** about cars but I'm a quick learner and am generally good with figuring **** out.

Re: Uggg!

I had no idea what I was doing, but I still managed to pull the transmission and change the brake band when it went; of course I already had experience rebuilding engines. I would really like a 5 or 6 speed, but rebuilding the auto would be more cost effective.. unless I start busting my a** looking for cheap swap items.

EDIT: Found this
