Re: New SVX owner checking in

Is the J-swap doable on a 98 Mk v111 LSC? I wouldn't mind crisper shifts.

Re: New SVX owner checking in

Absolutely it is doable. You can do it on any 4R70W or AOD-E trans. I did it on my 98 MarkVIII LSC as soon as I bought it. From the start, I planned on doing the 5-speed swap, but I just couldn't deal with the lincoln shifts. Also, just doing the j-mod, with everything else completely stock, I knocked .2s off the 1/4mi and if I floored it, the car would get sideways when it shifted into second at 50+ mph!

Here is the link to the tech article, written by the engineer who designed the 4R70W trans.
http://www.tccoa.com/articles/tranny/index.html#
click on the top link that says ford OD transmissions 101. Read the whole thing, cause it is very informative, but chapter 13 & 14 are the ones that tell you how to do the modification.

Also, don't bother with the lower setting, even if your car is completely stock. Going with the highest setting won't hurt anything, and the shifts feel great under moderate to hard accel, but under light accel, you can tell it isn't stock, but it isn't hard enough to be annoying or ruin the comfort of the car.
