do-it-yourself paintless dent repair?

Has anyone ever used one of those do-it-yourself paintless dent repair kits that they advertise on TV? I can't tell whether it's a total scam or what.. but i'm curious.

How does the kit work? Do you need 1 kit per dent, or can it be used over and over. I ask this because i have about 1800 dents on my car. She looks like a golf ball.

It's apparently a multiple-reuse thing. You Apply a temporary glue type substance in the dent and then hook up this little... thing... I really dont know how to describe it. What ends up happening is you turn a handle and pull the dent out. Then they give ou something to remove the glue and you're done. Hrm... that description sucked. Heh..

So if the paint happens to come off with the glue? I guess that's why they call it "paintless" dent repair
