Alright. So aside from all of my other constant problems. Ive had a code 22 (right knock sensor or circuit) on my engine since I got the car. Ive gotten all of the other codes taken care of. So today I went and got a knock sensor. Start the long process of getting the old one out. Then after an hour of cursing the crap out of my engine, Im about to give up. Then I noticed this just wonderful thing. (In the picture) The wire is almost completely gone off the connector. Its holding by only a couple small wires. Is this the source of my code 22? And the more important question... how am I supposed to fix that wire? Its just barely holding on for dear life (maybe thats why the check engine light comes and goes) Someone please help me.... I didnt have the $50 to spare on the sensor in the first place.... If I dont even need it now... I want to be able to take it back while I can.

Sorry about the pic, its off my phone. The wire is off the connection point in the pic. I wanted to see what would happen if I turned the car on with it disconnected. Needless to say, there were no changes, but it has to be there for something.

I just checked mine.
I would expect you could chase the wire for 1/2 inch or so, and extend it. Then put a new "Ear" on the wire to hook back up again.

The thing right beside the alternator??I believe that is for the oil pressure but am not sure.

If that is the case it wouldn't take much for it to continue to function.

I was trying to find out what it was a few days but the dealer wasn't sure.

probably can do it with just the bolt on the left as you are facing the alternator... removed, relax belt tension first, take belt off and swing alternator up??

It is just a push on connector you need to replace. Might do it without moving alternator but would be easier.

Well the oil pressure thing is just a push on connector yes, but the knock sensor needs to be unbolted. I have small hands, but just cant do it with the alternator there.

Granted, real easy to move it to make room to work.

Is the knock sensor causing any running problems?

Alright I just got the stupid thing replaced. The old ones casing was cracked up, and the wire was frayed in spots. So Im hoping this will fix the problem. Im REALLY hoping that I replaced the correct one. When it says right side of SVX, it means the one closer to the passenger side correct? Thats the one I replaced.... I assume by the location of the other, it would be the front one? I hope its not the other one... If I thought this one was hard, that other one looks really hard to get to. Plus I dont have $50 to spare again on the other sensor.

When car parts are refered to as right and left it is in relation to how they are positioned while seated in the drivers seat. So yes, the right one is towards the passenger side on LHD US cars. .

Alright so I havent seen the check engine light come on again since I replaced the sensor, though I am having issues clearing the code out. Any other options becides putting the pins in the obd1 connector?
