Transmission and radiator temps.
Fun With Numbers
I had an SVX on the lift this morning with the thermostat removed to circulate a radiator flush and took these digital readings all within a few minutes, after the car was running for about ten minutes. The dash temperature gauge showed ¼. Trans pan--------------------------107°f-----106°f Trans out line-----------------------137°f-----129°f Trans return line--------------------129°f-----124°f SSM Water temp--------------------145°f-----144°f SSM Trans temp---------------------91°f -----95°f Bottom of head---------------------144°f-----145°f Header with shield removed----------346°f-----346°f Bottom of radiator-------------------122°f-----118°f Lower hose-------------------------119°f-----117°f Upper hose-------------------------124°f-----120°f Top of engine block-----------------128°f-----133°f Upper intake manifold---------------100°f------98°f Note; Silla radiator, AC on, garage temp 80°f.

What do you see as the reason for the 30* difference in the pan temp? Is it possibal that it's due to heat radiated from the Y pipes? And then another ~40* difference to the SSM Trans temp??? On the inlet and outlet temps were you shooting the metal line or rubber line? And the biggest question I have is how do you type a degree sign??????

Oops! The 167°f was a typo! The rest of the numbers are (now) correct. The car was not driven, just started and allowed to warm up on the lift in park. On the inlet and return lines I was shooting at the metal lines. Hold "alt" 0176

Re: Transmission and radiator temps.
Yes, and later I'll run it again with a factory thermostat.

Re: Transmission and radiator temps.
Once you know the ASCII codes, you can put all kinds of nifty symbols in your posts. I use Ø all the time at work (Alt + 0216).
