No FWD light with fuse in...TCU?

From the beginning, AWD wasn't working at all. We ending up replacing the transmission, duty solenoid c, all the clutch packs, the basket etc...pretty much everything. Prior to all of this, the FWD fuse was in the car and it was working fine. However, we wanted to fix it and get the AWD working.

After replacing everything above, took the car out around the block and noticed it's binding very badly. This was new...the AWD wasn't engaging at all previously. Tried putting the FWD fuse in to diagnose, and the FWD light doesn't even come on anymore. It's a good fuse.

So....

1. Is the TCU smoked?
2. If it might be, how would that happen?
3. We have a TCU in our box of parts. How to test it?

Basically everything transmission related was replaced, tried more then one solenoid, and it should be working. If the TCU was always bad, why is it just now not allowing the FWD fuse??

If the solenoid is bad, the FWD light won't come on.
I had this problem in the 4.11 trans I just swapped in. I swapped the dutyC sol in, and viola the FWD light came back on.

Could be as simple as the sol being unplugged, or one of the wires pinched in the case too.

Ugh guess it'll have to put taken apart again...third time in a couple weeks now

The solenoid was replaced with the one from my car, which I had because I'd done a 4.44 swap. I'd never had any problems with the AWD in mine, so I can say I really don't think it's the solenoid itself. We'll have to check to make sure it hasn't come unplugged. Wish we had a lift!! LOL

Anything else anyone can think of in the meantime would be appreciated

Thanks Huck and Crazyhorse!

hmmm it may be the simpelest thing... maybe the piece that holds onto the fwd fuse isnt working right. take a look in your switchbox and see if there is any corrosion or rust in there...

If the C solenoid or its wiring has problems, you will get a flashing power light at start up. It seems like you may have a tight clutch pack, for the binding.
Can't say why the FWD light won't come on with the fuse in. Not the normal thing.

Harvey.

if the light doesn't come on... The circuit is not completed... You need to find the break in the circuit... The solenoid or the wiring to and from the TCU could be the culprit

+1

I forgot this part. Do you get the AT Temp, or POWER light flashing at startup?
