If you have the power then yes.

do your mods actually increase power? idk, but prob not much. If you did indeed have a ram air setup then at those speeds I would bet you may have some xtra power over stock. I believe svxride can school you on a ram air for the svx.

well my exhaust has minimal back pressure if that.. it only has 1 cat and a glass pack... and my intake is taking in outside air... but i could make a ram air setup i guess...

Seems most people who've tried are able to get to 145, though a few rumors say the top speed is higher, I wouldnt use those figures for "bragging rights"

honestly, the svx isnt worth bragging about when it comes to speed...For what it is, its quick, but compared to a more focused sports car, it isnt exactly spectacular.

it was 1 in the morning on a highway, noone was on before I get chastised by the group.

I ran up to 135 on a freeway frontage road. It's empty, with ho houses, or cross traffic, about 2miles long. I feel like it could have run out to 150, but I was out of road. In fact I ended up stopping in the gravel runoff. This is where I "top end" test my cars. Of course, so does everyone else, including cops.

FYI the new Dodge Chargers in Tennessee Hwy Patrol dress will do 145.

The local Georgia State Patrol office has one of those, black with dark orange lettering and no roof-mounted lights; very stealthy. I passed him the other night overtaking a pack of cars which, turned out, he was leading. Of course, I didn't know that until too late. He got so close to my rear bumper I couldn't see his headlights in the mirror. I guess this was his way of asking, "What, are you stupid?" No ticket.

Am I the only one who thought this thread was kinda..funny?

Anyway, there's no speed limiter on the USDM SVX, any year. There is on the JDM SVX; it's 180 km/h.

I once worked out the top speed based on stock USDM gear ratios and tires. It worked out to be something like 212 MPH I think. I would go check the log where I was talking to a friend about it, but I'm up in NorCal away from my computer and it's shut down.

Not that the SVX has enough power to get there. Interestingly, when I looked at the stock dyno plots posted in the ECUTunev1.5 thread, the point where the torque and HP curves met was right about where the "rated" top speed was for the '92 SVX, based on stock gear ratios and tires. Worked out to about 157 MPH, I think?

I am a BIT hazy on this, but I was asking OT some gearing questions a while back, and IF I RECALL CORRECTLY he said that a 4.44 equipped car's theoretical top speed would still be 164 with the stock rev limiter. So, I would imagine that a stock geared car's theoretical top speed would be MUCH higher. Like... whatever 4.44/3.54=1.254*3.54...so, I guess like 205 MPH?

Sorry if my math is wrong, or my assumptions incorrect. All I know is that when I was going ~145mph last fall, I was around 4,500 rpms (IIRC), and the speed was still coming. I just ran out of road. At the time my only modifications were a cone filter and lightweight 16" rims.

The car is a runner, for sure, but it all depends what you're comparing it to. If you're comparing it to other "sports cars" then you'll barely ever come out ahead in ANY contest of speed (stock anyway) and comparing it to a Honda then well... LOL I just can't think of any Honda that the SVX compares to. Maybe in speed, but not in anything else. Just totally apples to oranges here, lol. PLus, I still think that the IRIS valve opening sounds WAY better than VTEC. Mmmmmmm.

I'm with Nomake Wan though. The thread in itself is a kinda funny.

Oh, I just remembered. The 212 figure I gave up there was for 7400 RPMs, not 6500. Because I was going by the rev limiter on the ECUTunev1.5.

In my 92 I did 151 MPH loaded (3 people and few things in trunk) up a slight grade, wasnt able to see over the road very far and at the top of it I check my speedo and was doing 151 MPH. Coulda gone a bit faster maybe 160 with a bit of back wind, and at the time my car was 4k miles overdo for my oil change. under the right conditions you can go VERY fast. By no means am I saying go out and do the same thing, actually I say dont do it because at that speed I needed about a mile to get down to speed, you have no brakes at that speed (just burn up), and if you were to hit a nail or even a little rock you can have a blowout and there will be no control over the car what so ever.

The only Honda that comes CLOSE is an Acura RL coupe. An Accord coupe? nah. Prelude? No Effin way!

So my SWAG of 160-ish was close to dead on huh?
