0-60 in .6 seconds

remember that old cartoon called speed racer? well they are making it a movie and they made a real mach 5, its a v-12 turbocharged 8.0l motor.... it does 0-60 in .6 sec. and a 1/4 mile in 2.6 secs. with a top speed of 305 mph.... and weighs 2455 lbs. this info is in my road and track magazine... this has to be one hell of a ride...

I don't doubt that they built one... but I'm sure the stats are to reflect the movie car. Watch the previews, saw one a few months back...
and yes, you would be quite sick at the end of the 1/4 mile... but it wouldn't kill you! ..well I guess it could :grabs chest:

A good way to check reality would be to look at top fuel dragsters. They are the ultimate in covering a quarter mile in the fastest time possible, and they run 4.4 second times.

On the other hand they do do 0-100mph in less than .8 seconds.

Someone is yanking your chain... There isn't a human being in the world that could complete the 1/4 mile in 2.6 seconds and remain concious (or even alive)... .6 seconds to 60??? Must be on drag slicks, and even then that is rather unbelievable... Who (or what ) are they going to have actually drive this thing? And what is the purpose of building a car that will perform like that when the technology is there to do it all in computer animation, and not risk people's lives...

That is insane... I've been 0-126mph in 3.8 seconds before (on Kingda Ka - the worlds tallest and fastest rollercoaster) and that acceleration was like nothing I'd ever experienced before. I can't imagine 0-100 in .8 sec...

I subscribe to that publicaton too and was enjoying the read but there were thigs that were not making sense from the get go. 245 width tires? If this thing were a V18 quintuple turbo and the power to accelerate that fast the tires would not work.

They should have consulted with a former member for his tire advice and then maybe the .6 0-60 would have been a reality
