sweet xr6 engine dyno video

Just browsing around youtube and found THIS dyno video. I'd seen pictures of this motor before, but this is the first I've seen the video.

Pretty darn sweet, if you ask me.

The motor is a 4.0 DOHC turbo motor found in the Ford xr6 in Australia. This further only begs the question... WHY CAN'T WE HAVE SWEET THINGS LIKE THIS IN THE US?????!!

Two words, Product Liability.

Some wanker would get ahold of that & smear themselves across the landscape. The lawyers would have a feeding frenzy after that.

oh HECK yeah!
1k hp FTW!

Back in the day, when Can-Am racing was the rage. Mark Donohue was asked if 1200hp was too much. His reply? "When I can spin the tires at the far end of the Muslanne straight, then I'll have too much horsepower"

For the record, the Muslanne straight, at LeMans (IIRC) was 3.2miles of uninterrupted straight road. They added a couple chicanes a few years back to slow race cars from 270mph!

The motor in the video is by no means a stock motor, which I think would answer the "product liability" comment. It's just like any other performance company making aftermarket parts for a motor. My question is simply, why doesn't Ford (or any company for that matter) bring things like this to the U.S. Most of the cars here are lame compared to their non-US counterparts.

There are "plenty" of other cars in the U.S. with 1000+ hp. I can't imagine this being any different.
