I don't think so, Dealers tend to be a confusing bunch.

You know, it wouldn't be too far fetched that someone set up a switch in place of the FWD fuse. I wonder if it would be a feasible mod to increase gas mileage on the interstate. However, I too would like to see some pics of it....

FWD mode save little to no gas. It still has to drag the parts with it.

The nature of the center transfer clutch is such that when cruising steadily say, as if on an interstate, it might as well be FWD. The AWD clutch only reacts when necessary. Simply switching to "FWD mode" will not net a mpg increase worthy of the time installing a switch.
The FWD mode is only intended as a limp feature in the event of transfer clutch failure (binding).

Q: Hey, I've seen a couple of these around, but never knew they had an AWD button. Can you tell me where one would find it? Do you have any pictures of it?

A: Look at the gear handle , and you will see a small button on the side looking like an O/D button , but it is not , it is the 2 wheel drive button , and by switching on 2WD on dry surface , you could save gas . Thanks

Ha . I saw some guy on ebay selling an SVX and he said it was german enginered. (To many vw commercials I guess) I emailed him and I said "It german enginered really I never heard that. Where did you hear it?" He never got back to me. Some some people are stupid and they'll make up things to make them seem smart. Uhhhh, Stupid not everyone was born yesterday. You'll never know when you'll get that enthusiast proving you wrong.
Then you get the people that say. Hmmm...... H6... must be japanese for V6.
