302 Bose? I didn't know they made engines, I thought they just made speakers

is it a C6 or a C4? I rebult the C4 in my dad's 'Stang (64 1/2, 260 V8).. The C6es with the small block bell housing are a pain in the $$*@& to find...

Hmm I edited this after some reasearch I need to make sure its not the C6 because 302 and 351 use C6. Going to have to find out how to tell.

The C-6 that will fit on a 302 can be had out of most 300-6 vans and 2wd trucks. Same bell-bolts and converter.

351 Windsor uses the 302 pattern, 351 Cleveland is as different as a boy and a girl!

If 'torque and low end power' is your bag, try to find the FMX, cast middle trans to fit the 302-351 Windsor-300 six. It will help kill your gas mileage but sure is a LOT of fun to drive! ( and it is more 'forgiving' than a c-6 if it gets a little low on fluid) I put one in my 61 droF about 20 years ago, after I killed a few c-6's.

If you've killed a C6 tranny, you've accomplished something!

The FMX is a big ole hunka tranny, but they're bulletproof.

Personally I've broken a few trannies. I broke 3 TH350's, a TH400, a Top-Loader 4spd, a T-5, an AOD, and one 4EAT.
Of course I had one car that broke ALL those GM trannies & one that broke all the Ford parts. Both Hi-Po street machines.

The best way to kill a c-6 is to ignore it's needs! It NEEDS ATF, if it gets thirsty, it will DIE! You can break a seal and pump it dry and it will be JUNK before you know it is out of fluid.

Of course, the car was 'drifting' 35 years before I ever heard the term!

We just called it 'HAVING FUN"!!

Used to blow the MINDS of the alignment guys! They would tell me that the wheels were 'dead on' and they had no idea why the tires wore that way...... But I knew!! Have you ever seen a 23 foot long car in 'full drift'??

You haven't lived until you've had 4600lbs of '72 T-bird in full opposite lock, screaming down a mountain. Those cars are long on power, but WAY short on brakes! We used to do a "Fast & Furious" thing on South Mountain in Phoenix on Wednesday nights. I pretty much learned to corner fast in that 'Bird. I had no choice...Those things can't corner worth a dime! By the Time I had a car suitable for that, the races weren't being run anymore.

61 Sunliner rag top, 390 interceptor, 4:11 posi, Interstate 66 under construction and 'Closed' to traffic. It took all three lanes to cross the bridge over 522 at Front Royal, Va.

I might go up to the garage an visit that car tomorrow! I'm sure that the battery could use a few hours on the 'trickle charger'..

Waiting for spring! Fresh primer, stainless steel fender skirts, top down, fresh brakes, ratty interior, 300K on it 36 years later.

Stillllll Goingggg!! (I would finish the interior, but the dogs couldn't go and the grandkids couldn't have ice cream cones in it then.)

Just got off the phone with the man doing my transmission and says it might have a 351 Windsor engine in instead of a 302. I am not really sure what the difference from the 302 is. But I assume this is good news.

Man I just noticed I spelled boss wrong in first post I feel stupid.

Was the 351 available in '68s? I know you could get a 390.

I had a Mustang with a 289 and C4. Paid something like $195 to have the tranny replaced, INCLUDING labor, in the early 80s.
