Bent!

Well, cruising around with some friends on some back roads, my friend said i wouldn't be able to get my car sideways cause its awd. it was a little wet out. so i decided to gun it from a 90 degree stop sign intersection and crank the wheel. result?
car went sideways, then proceeded to nearly smack parked cars on BOTH sides of the road. and the were wayyy off the road nowhere near the actual road.
never ever again will i attempt a traction loss maneuver in the SVX.

I bet you still have the OEM suspension in your car right?
I highly suggest you start ordering some of the guys' bushings (i.e. svxfiles) and the Koni inserts.... then try that again (in an open parking space with no cars )

Please learn to drive responsibly, or start walking. Oh, and sell your car to someone who will appreciate having a rare and unusual ride and care for it accordingly.

Hmm. In the rain, if I jumped on it in my SVX, there was no amount of sliding involved. The front wheels slipped for a fraction of a second and the rears caught up. The car always proceeded straight (assuming I kept the wheels straight).

The corvette on the other hand...that thing twisted crooked from dead stop. RWD/Positraction does that to you I think.

I don't know why one would try to get their car sideways...it does a lot of damage to the tires and wheel bearings - neither of which are cheap.

I'm actually rather shocked that out of all the replies to this thread, only two have been critical.

yea, i was surprised to not see all that much tongue and finger wagging - see, ya tried something new, it didn't work out like you imagined it in your head, and you learned a valuable lesson. Theres and amazing curve in my hometown that circles a full 180 degrees with perfect visibility too see oncoming traffic and nice soft grass on the sides; the best part of my day is sliding sideways through it!

We all do stupid stuff even though Mama taught most of us better. Adults don't brag about this.

I should be able to legally park my car on the side of the road without having to be concerned about whether or not some immature fool is going to wander along, engage in some potentially dangerous misadventure, and "learn a valuable lesson" at my expense. Teenagers love to fly that let-me-learn-from-my-mistakes BS; it's shorthand for, "You aren't the boss of me." Twenty years down the road (if they survive with faculties intact), the majority will be singing a different tune.

Why the **** would you even make a thread about this? The utter stupidity of some people like you are what lands innocent bystanders in the hospital. I could go further, but why even waste my breath. I had destroyed a Ford Explorer out of my own stupidity and its something I'll never do again. You should take that poor car, put a for sale sign on it, and get it to someone who is going to appreciate it and treat it proper.

Damnit.. I made sure it was impossible for me to touch a car. And if i don't lose traction in a controlled environment and learn how the car reacts what happens when it uncontrollably happens in the rain?
I'm not the kinda guy who cruises down the highway doing 30 over the speed limit. I have gotten a ticket, learned my lesson. I don't drive like a moron or speed. i guarantee you that's the only time i ever do that in the SVX. car means too much to me to do otherwise.
someone delete the thread please. I admit it was a stupid thing to post.
it was more of a plea for what should actually happen if i encounter an awd traction loss.

Want to see how it handles at the limit... take it autocrossing.
I am not saying that you can take it there and try drifting it... but it is a fantastic way to see how it handles at the limit.
