RX-8 muffler in an SVX?

Has anyone ever thought or looked into how well a Mazda RX-8 muffler would fit in an SVX? It has the same basic layout of our stock mufflers, single in to a sideways mounted muffler, dual out of each side.

Here's a picture of the stock RX-8 muffler and midpipe. Except for the bend in the midpipe being on the opposite side from ours, it looks very much like an SVX system.



The reason I'm interested in this is because the RX-8 actually has an aftermarket. If it turns out that their mufflers fit our cars without much modification, that opens up a potential source of parts for us.

I know the RX8 wheels fit

take some measurements. If the rx8 muffler is the same or less in size, the only things that'd need to be modified are the hanger locations and probably the bit between the muffler and the tip

That's what I was thinking. The muffler itself should fit. The hangars will need to be redone, and possibly the tips too, but if the cans fit in our cars that at least opens up more options for us. Unfortunately, I don't have convenient access to an RX-8 to measure. I'll jump on the local Mazda forum and ask around.

See what you guys can find. I will ask my neighbor tomorrow if she minds if I measure her exhaust Good find by the way, this would really help in the hunt.
