I find it interesting that we have people using this site for commercial purposes, and that they are not willing to contribute towards its upkeep.

I'd suggest you start walking back through the ignition system....you might also want to see if you can borrow a select monitor and see what it says is going on when you feel the hesitation/miss.

SOA called me yesterday, and they agree with my outlook on all this, but they can't do anything. They called another local dealer and asked if they had anyone familiar with the SVX and were told no. I also discussed the fact that the Subaru dealers I've gone to told me they don't bleed the brakes when they replace brake fluid, and that brake fluid replacement is limited to removing some fluid from the resevoir and adding some new fluid. Even SOA agreed this will not put new fluid in the lines. The dealers charge a lot of money for periodic maintenance like this, but it's a joke. Same thing for tranny fluid -- they don't remove the pan or replace the filter or wipe off the shavings on the magnet. Oh well.

I'm going to ask my local mechanic to check the injectors and a few of the other items mentioned by others.

Significant Technical Input Registered SVX
When I first saw this thread, Young Tom and I discussed the problem.
Since the SVX in question is an OBD1, a Select Moniter may not help.
What would be great is if we had an oscilloscope that we could use on the road.
My brother, Mark5 was looking to create one, but He, like I, am very busy.
Another possibility is to hook up an ohmmeter bolted to the ground on the battery, and to the engine ground with enough wire to leave the ohmmeter on the shift console, so that you can watch it while you drive.
If the ohmmeter reading varies when the miss occurs, then you know better if its wireing/ground related.
