qustion about the bordeaux color....

I just bought a bordeaux 96 svx. The color looked more deep red/maroon color in the ad where i bought it. The current one for sale under the "cars for sale section" looks purple? Is it purple? Is it a nice color in person. I was on the phone today with a real nice and helpful member from the forum today who stated it was a really nice color....anyone agree? Or did i just buy a purple car..?

link to the one for sale here

I have a '95 bordeaux LSi-- I just had it repainted the original color and it's definitely not purple, although it does look purple in some light. The pics on the ebay ad look like they were taken toward evening, which would lend to the purple appearance. In bright sunlight, it's much redder. It's also much more red than the '92 claret color, and it IS definitely a very nice color! Good luck-- it looks like you got a good one!

I have a 94 in Bordeaux and it's a really nice color. My wife likes it because it's a dark color that really shines and not as bright as the red. I's defintely not purple.

That is a nice car. You can look at my Bordeaux with a link in my signature. It is not purple like mentioned before. I like the color very much. Good luck.

Its a "creamy raspberry" color. Something like mixing cranberry juice with half and half.

The color looks right. My '96 with same color, and I don't believe it's purple but my co-workers say it is.. I guess my old window tint (purple-ish) is also helping them to say that...

Bordeaux is very decent color, if there's no scrathes or dents at all. Mine has too many of those, need to be re-painted.

The internet and digital cameras sometimes make a hack job out of colours. Bordeaux is uber classy.

The Bordeaux Pearl color is not purple. It is a deep burgundy. It does have a slight purple cast, but in direct sunlight it is more maroonish.
I have a '97 bordeaux and if you look in my locker you can see it is not purple. Wash and wax the car and you will see the maroonish highlights.

There is a big difference between the Bordeaux and Claret. The Claret is much darker.

Here's some of the differences of the color from the garage meet, with LarryIII's car. I color corrected these images on a calibrated monitor, so it should be relatively close to how it looks in person. I included different angles. The first 2 are when you're facing the car with the sun in front of you, and the 3rd is when you're looking at the svx with the sun towards your back.

The last pic is SVXbart's claret so you can see the difference in color.
