Need tires

My tires are about 3 years past dead. They're now 10 years old and flat spotted. Just doing a little searching around for what's out there. Not looking for long life. Might put 20k or so on them in the next 5 years. Tirerack has some deals on these two at the moment. Looking for something that is quiet, good autox performer (well one that won't roll over on itself if I take it out a couple times) and will last 20k. Cheap is good too! Opinions!

I have had good luck with these, as well as a few other members here in WA State. Continentals The are about the same price as the ones you are looking at.

That's an awfuly hard compound Earl. 400 treadwear would leave 3/4 of the tread on it when I need new tires from dryrot. Besides, I don't need an all season. My car doesn't see winter except out her window.

except today when she has to sit out in it.

why buy tires for a car that doesn't go anywhere? does this mean you might start driving it more?

Sorry I missed your call a few hours ago.

Yeah I'm kinda glad I didn't listen to ya and take those snows off. Looks like I'll be driving through 12 inches at 5 in the morning once I hit Lewisbury. I don't think the XT would make it out of the plowed in driveway without 'em.

I ordered the RE050A's at the recommendation of my tire guy. He said it was a smoking deal for the tires and I'd be very satisfied with 'em.

Naw Michael, I wouldn't put used tires on it, nor would I want anything that was all season.

Yes, Subeman, I asked Paul first about tires, he's the one that said to get 'em. They're basically 1/2 price off list. He can't get 'em anyways. The dunlops he said he could get cheaper than tire rack but he didn't have much good to say about 'em. He doesn't charge me much for my tires anyways (profit wise) so I try to stuff money down his throat in the way of liquid refreshments.

Earl,
You have a winner, I think. I plan to try the ContiExtremeContact tires myself. They come recommended bythe Grassroots Motorsport Magazine too (check out Page 175 of the April 2007 issue). TireRack has our size for $79 each - hard to beat!!

BTW, this same issue of Grassroots Motorsport has an excellent article on setting up a garage / shop. Great magazine too.
