PA Inspection and emissions - CarFax

I recently recieved a carfax for my car, and for the first 8 years of it's life it was in NY, 1994-2002. It reports inspection and emissions passing every year or so. When it came to PA though, in 2002, there is not a single report saying that it was inspected or run through emissions. It does say that it's serviced a couple times, title transfered, registration, etc. I was just curious why it wouldn't mention inspection or emissions, does that not show up on PA carfax? I'm just worried about the inspection and emissions being fake, if they are they look real as hell, but i am not sure how to check for sure. Thanks for advice.

Hmm.. I can't answer your question but I would not worry about it, just wait till it expires and get a new one.

I have driven a total of 2 years (maybe 3) with an expired inspection sticker clearly visible. I've never been pulled over. I'm a pretty conservative driver though.

Even if I do get a ticket, I figure I've broke even by now, cause it costs like 50 bucks to get it inspected and the ticket is around 140. That's Scranton for ya!

I've never seen a PA inspection on a Carfax report.

I live in Monroe county, and we don't have emission tests on our vehicles. Maybe your county doesn't have one either and that is why it isn't on the carfax. Maybe?

OK, thanks for the input. It just seemed weird because the whole history shows inspection and emissions when it was in NY on a yearly basis, then it suddenly stops when it hits pa in 2002. Wasjust curious a bit.

Doesn't NY have state run inspection stations?? That may explain the difference. I really don't see the state paying a clerk to transcribe the coffee stained scribbles from a mechanics inspection log book.

No you don't have to report inspections to the state by vin (aside from the "book"). If its got a sticker in PA it must be real .
