28.5 mpg driving from NC to DE

Average speed 70-80 mph. Can only imagine how good it would have been had I driven 62 mph.

You beat me! I had 27.78 mpg from New Jersey to New York State total of 288 miles. I was driving roughly the same, 75 mph average with the windows open, 38f/33r psi for the tires, BP Amoco Premium on both fillups with a pretty light foot (under 2500rpm for acceleration) with 4.44 gears.

I love the highway mileage . Congrats to you as well.

I never thought the 4.44 could get such a good mpg on the highway.

I have a heavy foot with occasionally pretty strong acceleration. With avg 80-90 and occasionally 3 digit mph. AC on. Hilly Highway. I got about 22mpg on my 4.44. Maybe I should try your method next time and see if I can get that high.

I did get about 28mpg on my 3.54 with avg 70-75 easy smooth driving. AC on at 73F.

26.5 From Philadelphia to Boston, 28.3 from Boston back to Philadelphia. Didn't know that my '96 could do that @ 75~85 for most of the run!

On a recent trip at a constant 110km/h (just under 70mph), I recorded an average fuel consumption figure of 7.9 L / 100km............

....that equates to 29.8 MPG!!! (and I had the climate control on!)
