Much as I like my cars, both would be a bit cosmetically-outclassed at any sort of meet right now. The teal's clearcoat took an awful turn over the summer, and I blew my Paint The Teal SVX fund buying the silver. Back to saving loose change in coffee cans.

Update on the silver: No leaks, no smoke, no oil consumption, no bad mannerisms, stump-pullin' motor. Noted an occasional rubbing/whirring sound at around 1000 RPM, standing still or rolling, that stops abruptly with gas; thinking maybe a belt-driven accessory or pulley complaining. Expenditures thusfar include a new battery, fresh fluids and filters, a used antenna, and a four-wheel alignment (which made the car very happy). Oh, and all the wheels are now heading in the right direction. A used rear wiper assembly is on the way. Gotta do something about that nasty, opaque backglass tint before long.

Reckon I'd better stop bragging about it now and just drive.

The challenge in Gainesville is on the 21st of October. Me and Ben will be down in Gainesville the following weekend of the 27-28th to run in the Grassroots Motorsports Challenge with our Racer. We welcome anyone local to come out for a mini-meet and cheer us on. This may be the only chance to see the racer run south of Virginia.

Yet another update: Think the rubbing/whirring noise I noted earlier is a loose heat shield. Figured-out the indentations in the back seat: Child seat. Must have been one hefty kid.

Funny, but the more I drive this car, the more I want to drive it.

How come the waterfall grille looks better with silver than teal?
