cooling fan problem

hi, my cooling fans wont come on. i checked the relay, and its good also checked wiring with a multimeter and voltage looks good. Is there a sensor to engage the fans, thats maybe bad, if so where is it located, and does anyone have any wiring schematics of the svx?

I don't know about the SVX, but on my Dodge the temperature sensor was the problem for the fan not working. If you run out of ideas, you can temporarily install a manual switch to engage the fan when needed.

When you say, "my cooling fans won't come on", do you mean that they do not operate when they SHOULD? Under normal conditions the fans do not run very often.
Are you concerned that they do not operate, even when the engine temperature reads as being very high and they should be running?
Does a fan run when the air conditioning is operating?

the fans dont come on at all, i let the car idle for about an hour then it will start to overheat, (radiator is good), and the fans dont engage at all. so they should come on when engine temp rises, correct?

Yes the fans should run. The circuitry is quite complicated involving the air conditioning system and the fans run at more than one speed. Therefore it is difficuly to advise someone without experience how to test them as units.

It is a very good bet that the water temperature sensor is faulty. Replace it and fingers crossed.

this would be the same sensor that is linked to the relay that kicks on the fan, which the wiring leads to? thanks for the help

check to see if the a/c fuse in the engine bay fuse box is in, and not blown. Just a guess but easy to check. I think the power goes thru it to the fans. I emphasize on the word think. But if nothing else you can run a wire from there to power the driverside fan all the time while cars ignition is on.

Do the fans come on when you turn on the AC?

I am having "sort of" the same issue... Had a problem with overheating..after diags etc...duh...10a fuse/ac wasnt even present...put one in...fans working fine no overheating...BUT...now when I go to use the AC/defrost/fog...BOOM the 10a/ac fuse blows..immediately. possibilities? suggestions? I did notice some "grease" (grayish white) in the 10a/AC/FWD spots (specifically) AND in the 25A fan spots on the top left of the engine bay fuse baox...this grease is present ONLY in those 2 areas...meaning it was put there I guess...any insights for fixes? (very annyoing and actually kind of dangerous without the ac/defogger in the rain and the windows fog up)

Thanks in advance!!

(dont mean to hijack, thought this was along the same lines)!

mine has the grease too but it "shouldnt" be a problem.it SHOULD be dielectric grease....

my fans wouldnt come on, but i found the spade lug that is pushed up into the bottom of the fuse panel had become pushed back down through again and of course the fuse wouldnt make contact at that point to close the circuit....

easiest fix ive made so far.........

lol
