Here is the link to the parts and part numbers at Subaruparts.com, take a look at it and see what hose it is and the price.
If it is the high pressure line, it is part number 34610PA120 and is $84.28. If it is the low pressure return hose, it is part number 34610PA071 and is $9.54. But, it could be part number 34610PA031 and is $94.17. It would be best for you to look at the picture and figure out which one is leaking.

I'd be extremely skeptical about any sort of stop-leak or "conditioner"-type product stopping a hydraulic hose leak. (Imagine trying to use radiator stop leak gunk to fix a busted radiator hose.) If you replace the hose(s) and the condition persists, either you changed the wrong hose or something else is causing the problem; leaking connection, failing seal, whatever. And before you put-off this sort of repair, be aware that PS/ATF fluid on a hot exhaust can and will erupt into flame.
There was a recent thread concerning having a hige-pressure PS hose custom fabricated at significant savings over the cost of OEM parts. I've done this before (on another car) and would investigate that route. dcb |

After feeling my return hose (luckily, the cheaper one), it was covered in grit and fluid, so I have a feeling that is the one. I noticed it is attached with cylindrical clamps, and not regular hose clamps. How hard are they to remove, and do you think I'll need new ones, or can I use the old ones?

I used plain, ATF-rated hose on mine for the cooler-to-pump run, and reusued the OEM twin-band clamps.
The return lines disintegrate and weep fluid slowly over time, whereas a leak in the high-pressure line will spew fluid and leave you with a dry pump reservoir in short order. dcb |

TOM!!! you didn't tell me that hose was leaking too!! Damn ur in it worse than I thought. The return line(not high pressure) is a simple fix and you can buy a length of hose for like $8 if that. The high pressure line is the expensive one and I know for a fact that yours is leaking. You turned the wheel while I was under hood and I got squirted with fluid as I watched it shoot out of a crack in the line. Looks like you need both in that case

Im getting ready to replace that hose, because I have been too busy to do it over the past few days. But im goign to write a how-to with pics of how to do it. but before I do, I need some info from someone who has done this. First of all, im not sure how to work these clamps (pic attached). It seems as though if I pried up an end of it, it would then be useless. Is there some trick to doing these?
Secondly, The hose is pre-molded. So when I went to Autozone, they just wanted to cut a lenght of hose. Will this be ok to use since it isnt pre-molded, or do you actually have to have one in the proper shape. Let me know so that I can get this done soon and post the how-to. |

I hope the how-to contains better pictures
(does your camera have a "macro" mode?) The hose doesn't have to be molded.

Yeah I forgot to look at the picture before I posted it, in fact, it isnt even the right picture. Well I figured it out anyway, and I just finished replacing the hose, so the how-to is in progress.

Would you mind submitting the how-to to the SVXipedia? It's as easy as posting a thread here
