Yes, thanks Dave.

There will be no rebuilding of that block

My favorite is in the second pic, the blurry round thing on the far upper side of the block is one of the exaust valves stuck to the other side.

I might have to take you up on that offer Tom. Aside from having no block to build for a Stage III (or would it be stage IV? ) I'm a little hesitant to open the bottle again with no spare motor on hand. Even though I'm pretty sure what I did wrong, S@#T still can happen.

So anybody got ideas on why it picked cyl 4 to gernade?

Interior cylinders usually tend to run a little warmer than the rest, so that already puts them at a slight disadvantage. Over time it can amount to a huge disadvantage. You might have your injectors tested. There's a good chance that number four was running a bit lean. I sometimes wonder how rapidly knock sensors can make adjustments. A very sudden change might be more than they can adapt to. Of course, it could be any number of other things, including a combination of factors.

How were you punishing it at the time of it's demise?

Dude that's awesome! I would have expected #6 to blow rather than #4. Any boost? What all did you do to your engine? What were you doing when it happened?

That looks more like cyl #3 than #4, which makes it more understandable.

I have got head gaskets for it too if u want them. I was gonna rebuild it to have a spare laying around but now I dunno as I am not making crap for money at my job right now. I should know by the 2nd what I want to do with it so just let me know what u wanna do and maybe I can hasten my decision.

Yeah, my guess would be attributed to running leaner since it's the 5th cylinder in line. It's already well known that 4 cyl subarus have a problem with #3 running leaner than the rest and it's the 4th cylinder in line. Kinda wonder why #6 didn't go first but really any of the right bank could have been suspect.

Jesse,
Wow, that is one impressive "glob" of aluminum
I guess you've now established the design limit of the engine
I agree with suggestion to have the injectors checked out.
What did the cam look like? Having both valve snap off like that is worthy of a Top Fuel engine failure!

The cams look good, all in all I might have one good head and a set of good cams left.
